Welcome to FUNMAT2023

Following the 10-year tradition of the FUNMAT, The International Conference on Functional Molecular Materials, we are hosting its 5^th edition in spring 2023. As per tradition, the meeting will gather speakers from the field of molecular science and will cover a vast range of topics concerning functionality in molecular materials. We hope to continue the success of previous editions, which gave us a great opportunity to share our knowledge and experience, present the latest achievements, and foster fruitful cooperation.

This year at FUNMAT2023, the 10^th anniversary of the conference coincides with another special occasion, which is the retirement of Professor Barbara Sieklucka, who has been the initiator and main patron of this project. Her legacy consists of outstanding research documented in numerous papers as well as a whole new generation of researchers working in the field of molecular sciences. Therefore, we would like to celebrate the scientific career of prof. Sieklucka at a special FUNMAT session, which will be held in the unique surroundings of the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine in one of its chambers, hand-drilled in rock salt. We believe it will be a great way to celebrate our guest of honour’s achievements in the field as well as to start a new chapter in her career. 

The 5^th International Conference on Functional Molecular Materials, FUNMAT2023, will be held on March 29^th-31^st, 2023 in Kraków at the Faculty of Chemistry, Jagiellonian University. The special session will take place on the afternoon of March 31^st at the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine and will be followed by a conference dinner held inside the “Jan Haluszka I” Chamber carved in crystals of halite 135 m under the ground.
